A story about hangbok

Hangbok and I went to high school and university together.

We also did two stints teaching in Korea. He speaks fluent Korean. The best I’ve ever heard from a Westerner.

I could talk about the bars (Nex Beer, TGI Fridays, and Itawon) but this a a PG-13 posting.

Dude, you were speaking fast and could hang with native speakers. In 1995 me, Hangbok, and our pal Jason spent a weekend in Seoul getting all torn up. It wasn’t pretty. It was also really cold and, since I didn’t have a jacket, I got sick. Not just any sick, but the shivering chills want to die sick.

Anyway, Hangbok goes to this little kiosk in the bus terminal and, after some rapid fire Korean with the proprietor, gives me a little bottle of wicked nasty tasting shit. After thirty minutes I felt great. I wasn’t ready to go drinking or anything, but…...

Trust me, you’re fluent.

And you know damned well I’m not kind!
